Pomo Basketweavers, A Tribute to Three Elders
Part 1 of 3 features a tribute to Laura Somersal through a biographical sketch of this well known Pomo basketweaver. Also presented is an overview of the Pomoan Indian people and their culture in Northern California. The focus of the program is on the incredibly beautiful and internationally acclaimed baskets created by these people. This program features music excerpts from the one hour documentary featuring Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Graham Nash, Norton Buffalo, Joan Baez, Mimi Farina. This was an anti-nuclear protest rally at the San Francisco Civic Center in 1979 after the Three Mile Island Nuclear Accident in Pennsylvania. Produced and directed by David Ludwig.
The Longest Walk
“The Longest Walk” was a Native American spiritual and political protest walk across the nation from San Francisco to Washington D.C. in 1978. This event was to protest anti-Indian legislation proposed in Congress that would abrogate tribal treaties of Native Americans. The documentary broadcast on several PBS stations. Featured speakers are: Lehman Brightman, John Trudell, Phillip Deere, Russel Means, Marlon Brando, Dick Gregory, Ron Dellums, John Redhouse, Vernon Bellecourt, Wallace Black Elk and others. This is a one hour video and the Washington D.C. footage starts at 29:40.

Inti-Illimani, in Concert- This was a performance in 1989 in Oakland, CA and the video program broadcast on KRCB-TV, PBS. Inti-Illimani is a popular music group in exile from Chile. This program won the national CPB local public broadcast award in 1989. Spanish language
Norton Buffalo & the Knockouts
This is a music documentary with a performance at the Cotati Cabaret in 1986. This is the first music performance program produced and directed by David Ludwig for KRCB-TV, PBS which started the “Music Tonight” PBS program that broadcast about 20 shows into the 1990s. I got to know Norton very well while doing the interviews. A great guy and I really miss him.
Hangman’s Daughter
